Seven Days of Shindigs #5 Big Band Grand Slam, Mr. Wilson’s Second Liners & Soulful Sundays

Hello, and welcome to Issue #5 of Seven Days of Shindigs! We can scarcely believe it’s been a month now that we’ve been creating these weekly blogs, giving you an insight into the weird and wonderful world of Brewhemia, but we’ve loved showing you what we’re getting up to, and we hope you have too!

A festive fever has gripped Brewhemia the past few days, as we’ve spent the last week transforming every nook and cranny into a glittering Bavarian Winter Wonderland, bursting with fir trees, twinkling lights and a whole host of yuletide delights. We’ve also debuted our stunning new menu of Winter Warmers- a range of drinks designed to combat the cold and perfectly capture the quintessential flavours of the season.
As we run up to the Christmas period, we’re delighted to present a selection of top-notch entertainment for your pleasure, bringing forth a veritable feast of talent, including the fantastic Mr. Wilson’s Second Liners, performing both Friday and Saturday. If you’re not acquainted with the band already, we suggest you read ahead to remedy that.

LINE UP: The Da Capo Daughters, Brimstone & Blake

Thursday evenings at Brewhemia means Big Band Grand Slam. And THAT means gathering together in the Beer Palace to enjoy the very best in Swing, Jazz & Blues that this fair city of ours has to offer.

This week, we’re in for a real treat, as we’re joined by dynamic Blues Americana outfit Brimstone & Blake. Lifting their musical sensibilities directly from legends of the genre such as Hank Williams, expect a set jam packed with soul-stirring music, both originals and covers. This is Blues as it should be heard.

FRIDAY 22nd & SATURDAY 23rd

From 9.30pm

We’re thrilled to announce that this weekend, we’ll be joined by legendary gang of musical rogues, Mr Wilson’s Second Liners!

The band take their name and their cues from the great New Orleans tradition of Second Lining; that is, following the band to enjoy the music, marching and dancing, twirling parasols and waving handkerchiefs.

Hymn singing this ain’t though, as this band throw it all the way back to the 90s, club Hacienda culture and the rave scene. Paying homage to the heroic Tony Wilson, expect high energy renditions of dance classics, with hot stepping NOT optional.

Experience a joyful, anarchic rush of colour and sound, for one sweet weekend only.

InChorus Choir – 1.30pm

Every single Sunday we deliver a sublime afternoon experience, no matter your needs.

If you’re nursing a sore head, rest assured one of our glorious roasts will absolutely remedy that. If you’re gathering the family for dinner, or joining pals for a tank beer or two, the Beer Palace is the perfect place to bask in the positive vibes of our afternoon choir and just take things easy.

This weekend, we’re pleased to be joined by borders-based choir InChorus, bringing the feel good energy to your afternoon. The choir are raising money for Crisis UK, their chosen Christmas charity, so keep an eye out for the collection bucket as they perform…feel good indeed!

That about wraps up this week’s Seven Days of Shindigs. We hope we’ll be seeing you through the coming week, and in the meantime, don’t forget to follow us on FacebookTwitter & Instagram for updates on everything else we’ve got going on, including all the insider info on our spellbinding Christmas events and entertainment. We’ll see you soon!
